Ford v Ferrari (2019) Reaction & Review! FIRST TIME WATCHING!!
Ford v Ferrari was and excellent film which I consider to be a future classic. It had drama, fantastic performances from a stellar cast (including Matt Damon, Christian Bale, Josh Lucas, John Bernthal and Tracy Letts), superb sound design & score, authentic production values and most important of all, classic cars. The directing from James Mangold was as good as the script & storytelling and the sense of speed and adrenaline was overflowing from the screen and directly into our hearts. An easy recommendation for everyone including non-car lovers. A movie that’s greater than the sum of it’s individual parts.

The NeverEnding Story (1984) Reaction & Review! FIRST TIME WATCHING!!
Просмотров 13 тыс.Год назад
The NeverEnding Story was a wildly imaginative movie from a legendary filmmaker. Full of imagination, creativity and wonderfully quirky characters, this film really re-ignited my sense of dreaming (for lack of a better term). It brought me back to my childhood and filled me with wonder. The reveal of why this adventure is called The NeverEnding Story was mind-bogglingly ahead of it’s time. Apar...
Edward Scissorhands (1990) Reaction & Review! FIRST TIME WATCHING!!
Просмотров 7 тыс.Год назад
Edward Scissorhands is among Tim Burton’s best work. While I thought his Batman films were a little better, this movie really brought out the inner child in me. The story was wonderful, the cinematography was unexpectedly colorful, Johnny Depp’s performance was fantastic and the score from Danny Elfman was the cherry on the top. I highly recommend this film for a younger audience and I kind of ...
Shaun of the Dead (2004) Reaction & Review! FIRST TIME WATCHING!!
Просмотров 16 тыс.Год назад
Shaun of the Dead is an instant classic. Among Edgar Wright’s best work, this movie had me emotional, horrified but laughing the entire perfectly edited and directed 100 minutes. From the standout performance by Simon Pegg to the incredibly creative execution of the story through visual and auditory gags, I loved every second and I literally have nothing negative to say about this film at all. ...
Speed (1994) Reaction & Review! FIRST TIME WATCHING!!
Просмотров 12 тыс.Год назад
Speed was (another) classic 90s action thriller. With Keanu Reeves, Dennis Hopper and Sandra Bullock in the front seat, this really felt like a non-stop ride all the way to the explosive end. Competent directing and great tension building mixed with the right amount of humor really elevates this picture from a sea of clones. I know that there’s a sequel so if that’s worth reviewing, please let ...
Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985) Reaction & Review! FIRST TIME WATCHING!!
Просмотров 7 тыс.Год назад
Rambo: First Blood Part II was a classic 80s action film. While the action was amazing and we get so see some of the best pyrotechnic work of the decade, I cannot say the same about the story and the performances. I can finally see why this was one of the films that skyrocketed Sylvester Stallone’s career though. If you’re looking for more nuanced storytelling and social commentary that we got ...
Clear And Present Danger (1994) Reaction & Review! FIRST TIME WATCHING!!
Просмотров 9 тыс.Год назад
Clear and Present Danger was a solid action thriller improving upon it’s predecessor. A more streamlined story along with competent directing, acting and action really kept me at the edge of my seat for most of the runtime. The sound design and explosions alone are worth the price of entry here but it offered more with subtle commentary on the war on drugs. If the next film The Sum of All Fears...
Apollo 13 (1995) Reaction & Review! FIRST TIME WATCHING!!

Apollo 13 was an excellent film that not only stood the test of time, I believe it is or it will be a classic. The true story of man versus nature; it was about persistence while facing death and solving one problem at a time till you make it. It was inspirational and the movie really sent a hopeful message of never giving up. With solid performances from a talented All-Star cast, competent dir...

Toy Story 2 was just as good or even better than the first film, a rare feat in Hollywood. Hitting all the right beats, made with a lot of humor, heart and love, this film was an instant classic. A step up both in animation and story telling, they really brought these characters closer to life and to our hearts. Lead by an excellent cast (Hanks, Allen and everyone else), great directing from Jo...
The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) Reaction & Review! FIRST TIME WATCHING!!
Просмотров 6 тыс.Год назад
The Nightmare Before Christmas was a bag of wholesome family fun and entertainment. The story felt original, the music from Danny Elfman was spectacular but the most impressive aspect was the production end, more specifically the stop motion animation which honestly felt like a landmark in the genre. More good news is that the movie appeals to a broad audience, from the kids who’d love the stor...
Star Trek: Insurrection (1998) Reaction & Review! FIRST TIME WATCHING!!

Star Trek: Insurrection was a very entertaining but middle of the pack Star Trek Film. The strengths included the actual story and history of these two races, the directing from Jonathan Frakes and the performances (particularly from Sir Patrick Stewart, Jonathan Frakes and F. Murray Abraham). The production end was also mostly great with beautifully made sets, props and decent CGI which looked...
The Game (1997) Reaction & Review! FIRST TIME WATCHING!!
Просмотров 14 тыс.Год назад
The Game has to be one of David Fincher’s most underrated films. I finally understand why the movie didn’t have success when it first came out (it was clearly ahead of its time) and why it has such a strong cult following now. This was a fantastic thriller, and I had no idea where the story was going at any given point. It was a real mind-bender that had me at the edge of my seat, feeling paran...

Saw this in theater, came away feeling that there must have been a meeting...we need to move away from the original crew, go with the next gen, how do we go about that, well, obviously we need to get rid of Shatn, oops, Kirk, we need to get away from Kirk and crew, but with a few meaningless cameos, and Kirk need a heroic exit, okay, let's write a flimsy time travel story, with, of course yet another villain (can't have a star trek movie without a villain), maybe get some klingons involved, how about those buxom sisters, wrap it up with a fireworks explosion, and it's a wrap, drinks anyone? To be fair, there were some nice moments to in this, and some decent effects, although I think the whole planet crashing sequence has not aged well, the emotion chip was more a distraction than anything else, but led to a few light hearted moments, and please please bring back Sulu's daughter, and Alan Ruck, give them a ship and a crew, and some better stories than this, this was weak star trek on most every level, and leaves one dissatisfied, it felt contrived and manipulative without a worthy payoff, there were better stories to be told

This is actually one of the most historically accurate historical epics ever made. Yes certain things are added or taken away, the main character really existed, and he did hold off Saladin for a while, and when Saladin took the city he did show mercy to the Christians. Its also one of my fav movies too, this was way better than the theatrical cut and because the original cut was so bad this movie didn't receive the sort pf praise it rightfully deserved- if this version had been released instead

This is the most accurate depiction of life on a submarine, German submariners suffered higher casualties than Kamikaze pilots. The survivors hated the author of the book though, as he was pretty hard on Dönitz who they all loved. Dönitz was a Nazi, but he was also a good leader of men, he knew the names of all officers in the submarine arm, and he cared for them. And they rewarded that with undying loyalty. You probably do not know, but the US waged an effective sub war against the Japanese (who were amateurs at fighting subs), and the surviving captains of Germany and US subs would often meet after the war and strike up friendships. Sailors are sailors and the sea is the worst enemy (convoy) and submariners are submariners. Germans know how to make war movies; heroism futile, sacrifice in vain. Try Stalingrad (1993) and "Die Brûcke". There is also a Russian one "Come And See" that will traumatise you.

The jacket Professor Marvel wears in the beginning was found in a thrift store when the props department was looking for a jacket that showed "faded elegance." When the actor put his hands in the pockets he found the nametag of the previous owner, L. Frank Baum, the author of the Wizard of Oz books.

Sissie Spacek and Piper Laurie both were nominated for Academy Awards - for being Carrie(tta) and Margaret White. Very rare for a horror movie. I loved Sissie in this - and her husband at the time, Jack Fisk, was the art designer for the movie and handed her the blood in the shower. I found some of this movie actually funny - a good mix of both - if you know Brian DePalma. The girls all saw Sissie in the shower naked and then they saw it in the dailies and then said, if Sissie can do it, we can too. Priscilla Pointer, who plays Sue's mother in the movie, is Amy Irving's real life mother. Her sister, Katie, sang in the prom song "I Never Dreamed Someone Like You Could Love Someone Like Me."
